About the Book |
Stephen Chbosky published the book The Perks of Being a Wallflower, which is also his first novel, at a very young age of 29. The book made the New York Times bestselling coming-of-age novel in about a year of publishing. He then proceeded to write a screenplay for the film in 2005. The book could be considered to Chbosky because it is taken place in Pittsburgh. Which also is the place Stephen Chbosky grew up with his family until he left for college in South Carolina. The book was a big hit with teenagers because it was very easily relatable to other teenagers lives. Also because it has a great plot and is interesting especially to teenagers that don't tend to love reading like me. Teenagers can relate through depression, abuse, drugs and drinking, and just living the life of a teenager in general.
